Listen Up!The book of Revelation begins with the words, "The revelation from Jesus Christ..." What does Jesus want his church to see and hear from him and are we willing to listen?
Pentecost marks the day when the Holy Spirit was sent to fill the first followers of Jesus in order to send them to the world with the Good News about Jesus. How do we remain filled with the Holy Spirit as Jesus' followers today? And what is at stake if we don't?
In our Gospel today, Jesus tells those who believe in him, hold to his teaching, so they will know the truth, and the truth will set them free. The problem is, they don't realize they've been living enslaved to anything. The same is true today. The things that would hold us captive, heart, spirit and mind, are many. Have you been looking to find life, hope or freedom in things that do not deliver? Jesus comes that through his sacrifice, we who were servants, become part of the family, heirs of the kingdom of his grace, so finding our center in him, we may know true freedom.
How does the Holy Spirit move through the life of a follower of Jesus? Guest preacher, Per Nilsen, teaches us how to stay in the flow.
Philip is a minor character in the book of Acts but he plays a major role in the mission of Christ.
The Bible seems to teach that we are to rejoice in our sufferings, but that sounds like no fun. So what does it really mean? To help figure this out, we look at the early church in Acts and the life of Jesus. What we find is that through suffering, we see the true Gospel of Jesus is revealed to us!
The story of the Emmaus Road today shows us how our Lord comes to his people, in our ordinary moments- in times of wrestling and questioning, he draws closer to us. Will we invite him in? Will we receive the truth and grace he brings? And will we also follow into the discipleship of walking alongside others, to help them recognize Jesus too?
On Palm Sunday, the Gospel of Luke shows us how Jesus fulfills the prophecies of the Promised Messiah.. Jesus shows us that love in his painful choice to walk the road that would bring all of us who have been exiled in sin into the kind of reconciliation with God that not even death can destroy.
On his way to Jerusalem, Jesus passes through Jericho. There he is met by a blind beggar who sees things more clearly than the crowd or the disciples.
