Other Ways to Serve

Adopt a Bathroom

Think about how many people visit the bathroom on any given day. We would like someone to adopt each bathroom and fill up the baskets with "homey" items that people need. Maybe it's a band-aid, hair-spray, or a mint. Contact Paul Wetterling.

Altar Guild

Help keep the linens clean or change up the paraments (banners) according to the church calendar. You can also help set up for baptisms. Contact Sandy Werling at (651) 770-5324.

Bandage Rollers

This medical ministry meets in the Quilters’ Room (Room 221) on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month (October through May) to create and roll bandages to be used in hospitals and clinics in third world countries. Contact Lois Balken at (651) 777-9403.

Funeral Reception Ministry

There are many ways you can help… provide cake, cookies, or bars; help set up the Commons before the reception; or clean up the Commons and kitchen following. Contact Edna Rafferty or Orlin Bandt.

Garden Team

Beautifying our grounds takes many hands.  In the spring and fall, there are once-a-season group work dates that include light-duty and some heavy-duty work.  And, there are also opportunities for light maintenance throughout the season such as pulling weeds and deadheading spent flower blossoms.  If you enjoy working with plants, contact Lynne Hagen.

Greeting Card Recyclers

On the first Sunday of each month, beautiful recycled greeting cards are for sale for only 50¢ each. You can help make these cards at an upcoming workshop. Contact Rose Gustafson at (651) 426-0331 for the next date and time.

Knitters Ministry

If you like to knit, come on the fourth Monday of each month and join this ministry as they work on projects for family, friends, and ministry purposes. They gather in the Commons.

Lay Visitation Ministry

Lay members are trained to take Holy Communion to serve our home-bound members. If you know someone who would appreciate being called upon, or if you would like communion brought to you, please contact Pastor Al Valerius.

Mailing Team

Would you be willing to be "on-call" to help the church with mailings from time to time? You would receive a call one to two days before the mailing needs to go out. Stuff, seal, and address envelopes. Great opportunity to meet others. Contact Linda Pickett.

Prayer Network

Receive the congregation's prayer requests by email so you can pray for them. Join the network by sending an email to Christi Torgusson.

Proofreading Team

Do you love grammar? Do spelling mistakes drive you crazy? Join the proofreading team! The team reviews the Sunday bulletins and other materials as needed. Reference materials available for when you have questions. Contact Denise Cabak.

Quilting Ministry

If you like to quilt, sew, tie, or cut fabric squares the quilters have a place for you. Join in making quilts for third world countries and the homeless in our community. This group meets Mondays at 9:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in Room 221 (also known as the Quilters' Room). Contact Caryl Annenson at (651) 773-0954 or Marcella Strand at (651) 429-2857.

Shoveling

Every Sunday we have hundreds of worshipers coming through our doors, but it wouldn't be possible in the winter if the facilities weren't shoveled out. Just show up with a shovel or consider being on the Shovel Out Team. Contact Paul Wetterling.
