Living in the Waiting TimeIf we see people the way Jesus sees them, we will also want to love and serve them as Jesus does. How Jesus loves and serve people depends on what will help them receive the saving grace he freely gives! How is the Holy Spirit calling you to love and serve others, so they may know Jesus through you?
Jesus had a unique way of seeing people that challenged the norms of his day. How are we called to see people like Jesus sees people today?
A true disciple of Jesus doesn't just act like Jesus; they sound like him, too. In what ways are we called to Speak Jesus so those around us can be drawn to the sound of his voice?
When you hear "imitate Jesus," what images come to mind? Miraculous power? Arguing with Pharisees? Serving others? As we unveil our third of four Formational Values at CGLC (how we become disciples), hear what we mean when we say, "Imitate Jesus."
What does it mean to trust Jesus with everything in your life? It means bringing your whole self to him and holding nothing back from him. But what you get back will be more than you can ever imagine.
You won't follow Jesus if you don't trust him; you won't trust him until you know him- so the first job of a disciple is to know Jesus! We get to know someone by what they say, what they do, through stories of people who know them, and by our own experiences. What helps you know Jesus? In what ways can you grow in knowing Jesus this year?
The Holy Spirit it transforming Community of Grace into a community of disciples on a mission of grace. What does this mean for our future as a congregation? Come and see what the Holy Spirit is revealing to us in our ministry and mission.
In John's 2nd and 3rd letters we are reminded that Living the Love of God can't be separated from living in the way of God- because the hope the world needs is more than human kindness- it also needs the love and grace of the Savior, which he offers all who desire to be reconciled to God. It is the greatest challenge of our discipleship to walk in both truth and love, letting our witness show both that the world needs a savior, and that we have one.
John calls us to use discernment and to love one another, but what do these two instructions have to do with each other? How do we love others well while exercising discernment?
John's first letter to the Church is filled with love and light; both key attributes of God. What does it mean to walk in the way of Jesus in a world that often feels so dark and filled with hate?
