StumpedSolomon's Temple was built to be the center of worship and unity for God's people but it quickly became the center of idolatry and division. How can Jesus fix this mess?
In the story of David we learn the qualities of a person who seeks to be one after God's own heart: Faith, Passion, Humility and a Teachable Spirit. What makes David great, is not David, but the Lord who is with him. In Jesus' victory, in the power of his Holy Spirit given to us, that same Lord calls us his own.
The Holy Spirit calls us into a relationship with God and calls us out to mission in the world. How should we respond to the Spirit's call and what is at stake if we don't?
How do we find God's provision when we don't yet see God's promise? We live generously in the present.
God calls us by name and God has a name. How does this shape the way we interact with God from generation to generation?
Stealing birthrights for stew, tricking his blind dad, and wrestling with... an angel? If this sounds pretty wild, it is. Will God work through Jacob anyway, Or is he on his own?
People often assume what a Holy God wants from us is the most costly of sacrifices. Instead, God shows Abraham he wants our trust while God himself provides the sacrifice for us. In John 1, Jesus is revealed as "The Lamb of God", the sacrifice God provides for our redemption, asking only our trust that he is God's provision, for us!
Every story has a beginning and every journey has a starting point. That is what Genesis is all about!
Hebrews 13 reminds us that Jesus was put to death outside the city; an insult meaning one so condemned is not one of "Us". In this Jesus shows the heart for the world he revealed in Luke 15. Jesus comes to invite those on the outside to know that are not outside God's love. How can we do the same?
In Hebrews 12 we are reminded that although personal disciplines always seem painful, they help us to grow in the areas that will benefit us most. Jesus speaks this in John 15- pruning leads to growth. What do you want to see growing in your life? Ask the Lord to show you what needs pruning, and what needs nourishing to see that growth.
