The Beginning Comes After The EndGod invites us to show our love for him, by choosing this day to intentionally remember him. God invites us one day a week to remember he loves us not for what we do, but just because we are his, in this grace filled command to honor him not by our work but by our trusting rest.
Every game has rules. If you don't know them (or follow them), the game is spoiled and everybody loses. So what kind of rules has God put into place so we can play well together and help create a trustworthy world? It begins with trusting in God, alone.
Trisha Kauffman, Executive Director of Solid Ground, brings us into their work to help solve homelessness and housing insecurity in and around White Bear Lake.
The events of the past year have caused divisions in communities, churches, and families. Many relationships have been broken and much has been lost. Can Jesus show us a way back to each other that is filled with grace and truth?
We all share in the fact that each of us will experience the death of a loved one sometime in our lives. Yet each experience of loss is unique to the individual. How do we honor one another and honor Jesus as we walk this difficult road?
In order to grow, we need to grieve what we've lost- but we also need to grieve things we wish we had. When life robs us of the fulfillment of dreams it can challenge our ideas of who we are. Jesus invites us to mourn, so that we may be comforted. Only when we acknowledge and validate our real griefs, can we truly surrender them to the Lord, and ask for his help and healing.
Ashley Collins has been a lifelong member of Community of Grace (hosts of the Grace People Podcast) in White Bear Lake. She recently went on a 11-month global missions trip called the world race; not everything went right, but she's home again and figuring out what it means to be on mission where you live.
We have all dealt with some "lemons" from this past year. Sometimes these painful realities have left us despairing or, in some cases, depressed. How does God see us when we despair of life itself? Let's learn from the story of the prophet Elijah.
Just as the Wise Men bowed before Christ's kingship, thwarting the wills of earthly kings, so we, too, must be wise and bow before God's authorship of His story and our own.
Jesus was born into the world, and endured the cross "for the Joy" that was set before him, Hebrews tells us. What could possibly be a joy worth that pain? You are. Christmas reminds us, we are God's joy.
