Jesus was continually being accused of breaking the Sabbath by the religious leaders of his time. Find out how Jesus challenged and reframed their (and our) misunderstanding of God's intent in calling for a day of holy rest.

Trust Walk

In Matthew 10, Jesus sends his disciples into the world to prepare people to receive the good news of Jesus' redeeming and restoring work for them. What can we learn from this account about what Jesus wants for people, and for us as his disciples as we live as his 'sent' ones, to our communities today?

Jesus continues his healing ministry, delighting the faithful and confounding the religious. He also sets out a challenge to pray for workers for the harvest. As his disciples, how do we continue Jesus' ministry, and what do we do with his prayer for workers?

There are many things we think will separate us from the Love of Christ; things that often separate us from one another. But Matthew 8 shows us through multiple stories what the apostle Paul reflects in Romans 8; the heart that asks will not be separated from the gift of Christ. The grace of the cross is for all who confess they need it.

As Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount, he makes it clear that his words aren't just good advice, but are the only sure foundation for building our lives upon

Blessed

In the passages leading into the Sermon on the Mount we see Jesus' approach to a hurting world. He finds us where we are, teaches us God's heart, and proclaims that he comes to us. The ones who are Blessed, are those who know their need, and are humble enough to receive what he comes to give. How can we learn from Jesus' approach to us, as we approach others in his name?

When Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness, he encountered all the real struggles and temptations of our human reality. That's why we can trust Jesus to be with us and to show us the way when we find ourselves in the wilderness. In fact, sometimes that is exactly why we have been led there in the first place.

In Matthew 3 John the Baptist calls us to a washing, to repent of the ‘gunk’ that keeps us from seeing what the Lord has come to do in us. But Jesus moves us into a whole new kind of baptism- one not about what we’ve done, but about what he does! Being Baptized in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit, we receive adoption into his saving work on our behalf! As we live in a world of gunk we find our Glory is in his grace alone!
