Not Alone in New LifeHow does Jesus speak to a lukewarm Church that has closed it's doors to his presence? With truth and love.
Even when things feel unstable, Jesus opens the door to the Kingdom for everyone who trusts in him.
The Church belongs to Jesus, who calls us to wake from spiritual complacency and live fully in His Spirit.
The Good News of Jesus isn't just for you, it is for the entire world and everybody in it! Jesus calls us to go and make disciples and to join his mission of redeeming all of creation, and we get to do that through his grace, together!
Part of our calling is to be in community with those around us, but Jesus does not assign this to us and leave us hanging. We are not just called, we are welcomed into Christ's church and given a new command.
In our culture, it's easy to consume things that are not good for us- things that shape our lives in ways that don't look like Jesus. Today Jesus invites us instead to feed on him- and allow him to be the Lord who shapes our lives in his way.
The Church in Smyrna suffered afflictions and poverty for their faithfulness to Jesus. Because of this, Jesus has no words of correction or rebuke, but only words of encouragement and a victor's crown.
In his first of seven letters to seven churches, Jesus has some commendations and corrections he'd like to share with his church. What might he be saying to us today?
The book of Revelation begins with the words, "The revelation from Jesus Christ..." What does Jesus want his church to see and hear from him and are we willing to listen?
